I am so very, very pleased with how well I did with the Bout of Books 13.0 Read-a-Thon! I read only 700 pages less than last year even though I joined the read-a-thon a day late and stopped reading four or so hours before midnight on the last day because of how exhausted I was.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon 13.0

Day 5 went by way too quickly for me! This whole read-a-thon has gone by too fast, in fact. I can’t believe it’s going to be over in less than 24 hours. 🙁

Day 5 Stats

Books Finished: 0

Pages Read: 340
Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan – 340

Day 5 Goals

1. Finish Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon 13.0

Today was not a great reading day, but it was a great day regardless! I’ll be keeping my reading goal the same for tomorrow, hopefully I’ll reach that seemingly elusive page count!

Day 4 Stats

Books Finished: 0

Pages Read: 40
Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan – 40

Day 5 Goals

1. Reach Part 3 (page 365) of Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan
2. Have fun!

Hope everyone is continuing to have fun flailing and not failing!

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon 13.0

Well, I did not meet my first goal for Day 3, but I was only 49 pages short of accomplishing it, so I still count that as a great success! I’ve also really been enjoying all of the books I’ve picked up so far this read-a-thon. One of the things I dislike most is when I pick up a book that I do not like or cannot get into, especially when I picked it up because I thought it has such great potential. So far, no disappointments in my choices!

Tomorrow looks as though I will have a particularly relaxing evening in which I can spend plenty of time reading, so long as I don’t become so relaxed I fall asleep early!

Busy day today, but I managed to achieve my goals for Day 2! Tomorrow looks to be even busier, but I am very much looking forward to attempting to meet my Day 3 goals!

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon 13.0

Wow! Day 1 (or at least my Day 1) of Bout of Books 13.0 is over!

So far I’m doing really well, managing to find time to read in addition to things I needed to do and get done. Hopefully this will stay true for the rest of the read-a-thon!

Day 1 Stats

Miss Mayhem by Rachel Hawkins

Pages Read: 314
Miss Mayhem – 288
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin – 26

Day 2 Goals

1. Finish Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin

I hope everyone who is participating in the read-a-thon is having a great time! I myself am trying to keep things as light as possible in the hopes that I’ll be able to write up some content aside from these daily progress reports 🙂

A more accurate title for this post might be “Finding My Way Back to the Blogging World…. ”

It has been a very long time since I last posted here on Readerly Musings, in the middle of my blogiversary celebration.

Unfortunately life got in the way of my reading life for a few months and has stayed in the way of my blogging life for even longer. It is my hope that Bout of Books 13.0 will be my way back into the world of blogging, though I will be starting out very slow!

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon 13.0

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 11th and runs through Sunday, May 17th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 13 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

My true goal for this read-a-thon is to not only read but also get back into blogging, though I do have a tentative TBR. If I manage to follow it and not read a book off the list, I will be very shocked! And, as always, I am being highly optimistic about how many books I will read…

My TBR

Miss Mayhem by Rachel Hawkins
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin
The Underground Labyrinth by Louella Dizon San Juan
Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan
Every Day by David Levithan
The Cult of Kronos by Amy Leigh Strickland

Happy reading, everyone!

Bout of Books 10.0 Read-a-Thon

The Bout of Books 10.0 Read-a-Thon (aka my very first not started by me) is officially over! But even so, I’m already looking forward to Bout of Books 11.0 in August and wondering if I’ll be able to “beat” my stats for this past week!

Like I thought, I didn’t do much reading yesterday, but I did manage to finish Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery!

Day 7 Stats

Books Finished: 1
Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery

Pages Read: 115
Anne of the Island – 115

Overall Stats

Books Finished: 6

American Savage by Matt Whyman
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Ingrid by Lynnette Kraft
Touching the Surface by Kimberly Sabatini
Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery

The Savages – 280
American Savage – 326
We Were Liars – 224
Ingrid – 368
Touching the Surface – 352
Anne of the Island – 268

All in all, this was a terrific read-a-thon for me! I met some really amazing people thanks to the two Twitter chats I attended, and the blogs I visited thanks to the update post link-ups. I didn’t stick entirely to my TBR, though I did read six books which was what I was pretty much hoping for when I first made it.

My only “problem” is now I have six more books to add to my ‘to review’ list which is so incredibly long right now. I will get to them, however, even if I have to make some video reviews instead of written ones!

How was everyone else’s week? Are you pleased with the reading you managed to accomplish?

Day 7 Goals

1. Have fun!

As I type this, there are about 4 hours left to the final day of the read-a-thon, and I don’t know whether or not I’m going to be doing any reading. As of now, I haven’t because I’ve been unpacking and doing other things that need to be done after my trip (including importing lots of pictures and a few videos onto my computer!), as well as other typical weekend stuff before I can even think about doing any more blogging or reading.

What about you? How did you spend your weekend? Were you reading for the read-a-thon? Have you completed all your goals (if, in fact, you made any)? And how do you feel about the end of the read-a-thon looming ever closer?

Bout of Books 10.0 Read-a-Thon

It’s Day 6 and I’m away from home! Yes, I am making this update from a hotel room in Rochester, NY as tomorrow I will be attending the Teen Book Festival!

It was a somewhat impromptu trip as, even though I had first found out about this event not long after I started blogging, it wasn’t until early this afternoon that I found out for sure I was actually going to attend! Thankfully I was able to pack up all the books I owned and want to have signed in a somewhat timely manner, though it did mean I lost a bunch of reading time that I didn’t already lose to editing my FAQ vlog (which still is not up on BookTube yet, but I hope to have it up sometime on Sunday – small preview, however, it is over an hour long!).

The trip to get here was five hours long and I spent it doing 6 things: eating dinner, reading, listening to music, enjoying the scenery, and tweeting (not necessarily in that order). During that time I finished reading Touching the Surface by Kimberly Sabatini and read three more chapters of Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery. I could have gotten a lot more reading done, but I got distracted by the beautiful scenery of upstate New York. It’s been a few years since I was last up here, and I truly forgot exactly how gorgeous it is!

Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m not pleased with my progress!

Day 5 Stats

Day 6 Goals

1. Finish Anne of the Island.
2. Have fun!

Tomorrow I am going to be spending the majority of the day at the book festival surrounded by readers, authors, and, of course, books! After that, I may also be going to a library book sale my mom found out about before we left home. As such, I do not expect to get much reading done at all tomorrow, but I’m okay with that. Goal number 2, have fun, will just have to take precedence!

So how was your Day 5? And what are your plans for Day 6? Inquiring minds want to know!
